If available, it's ideal to use digital inputs and outputs on A/V equipment. Digital optical signals are capable of long runs without signal degradation or interference, they retain any digital surround sound coding, and help you put off analog processing until the last, highest-quality links in your signal chain.
Best of all, because differences in digital optical cable performance are negligible, all you need for top-notch sound is a dependable cable at a good price. You've found it!
