
Emily Howard's Two Songs after Friday Afternoons is a 5-minute work for children's choir and piano, presented as a choral octavo. The two songs, with texts by Selma Dimitrijevic, are “Big Bums” and “Pi (A Pie?).”
Commissioned by Opera North in celebration of Benjamin Britten's 100th anniversary, the work was premiered on 22 November 2013 at the Howard Assembly Room, Leeds.
The premiere featured Opera North's Children's Chorus, Scotton Lingerfield Primary School, Old Earth Primary School, Our Lady and St Peter Roman Catholic Primary School, and Monkwood Primary School. Justin Doyle conducted, with Anthony Kraus on piano.
