This is the solo cello part for Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33 (2nd version), a Mozart-inspired work completed in January 1877 and his first composition for cello and orchestra.
Wilhelm Fitzenhagen heavily edited this version, and the work was dedicated to him. It was the only version known for many years. An edition reconstructed to the original version by Paul Tobias and A. Stogorski is also available from the publisher.
Instrumentation: Solo Cello: 2.2.2.2: 2.0.0.0: Str (9-8-7-6-5 in set).
