Wavecor WF120BD12 4-3/4" Kevlar/Carbon Fiber Cone Midwoofer 8 OhmThe WF120BD12 introduces a newly developed cone made of interwoven Kevlar and carbon fibers, combining low mass with exceptional rigidity and internal damping—traits that significantly enhance clarity and accuracy in the midrange. Its Balanced Drive motor structure delivers symmetrical force across the coil’s travel, dramatically reducing even-order harmonic distortion. A vented, inverted center dome minimizes compression, while a copper cap on the center pole reduces voice coil inductance and stabilizes it across excursion for smoother frequency response. The large 1" voice coil is wound on a black fiberglass former to lower mechanical losses, supported by a rigid die-cast aluminum chassis with extensive venting to maintain low air flow speeds and reduce audible distortion. To maintain fidelity at high levels, the motor incorporates an aluminum field-stabilizing ring and thermally optimized black-coated components, while a low-loss suspension and CONEX spider preserve dynamic response and durability over time. Gold-plated terminals complete the design with long-term connection reliability.
