Easy SetupAn intuitive guide makes it simple to move through each stage of the setup process, from connecting speakers, your TV, and external devices to choosing inputs. The on-screen Settings menu also makes sound adjustments easy, so you can get everything up and running quickly.
Room Correction for Perfect Sound in Any RoomAn included setup microphone measures your room’s acoustics and your speakers’ characteristics, allowing the receiver to automatically optimize sound performance so premium audio quality can be experienced at its best, regardless of room conditions or environment.
Built on a Legacy of Home Theater InnovationSince introducing the DSP-1 in 1986, Yamaha has spent nearly four decades advancing the home theater experience. The YHT-4970U is a reflection of that progress, informed by AV receiver innovation, instrument-building craftsmanship, and acoustic knowledge drawn from concert halls and professional PA systems. Together, that experience brings greater depth, realism, and nuance to everything you hear.
Engineered for Stable, Reliable PerformanceReliability is a critical part of any AV receiver, particularly when handling high-bandwidth HDMI switching. Yamaha’s quality standards and durable circuit design help maintain stable performance even under demanding conditions. One example is the large heatsink positioned above the HDMI circuitry, which manages heat effectively to protect sensitive DSP and HDMI components. This deliberate design approach helps support long-term dependability along with consistent sound and picture quality, so your entertainment performs the way it is meant to.
Great Sound, by DesignExceptional sound is shaped by details you never notice at a glance. The YHT-4970U reflects a sound-focused design philosophy in which component placement and signal paths are carefully considered. Because even small changes can influence what you hear, the design incorporates multiple layers of refinement, down to the physical layout and wiring routes, all supported by listening-based evaluation. The result is simply beautiful sound that makes you stop thinking about sound quality and start feeling the moment it creates.
Vibration Suppression for Sound AccuracyA hallmark feature carried over from Yamaha’s high-end AV receivers, the Anti-Resonance Technology (A.R.T.) Wedge is a centrally mounted fifth foot that works together with the four outer feet to help disperse vibrations and promote stable, focused, and precise sound.
High-Performance HDMI SwitchingConnect multiple HDMI devices, such as streaming players, game consoles, and Blu-ray Disc™ players, and switch between them with ease. HDMI eARC also sends high-quality audio from your TV to the AV receiver through a single cable.3
Sound to Match the MomentChoose from a variety of Sound Modes tailored to different content types, listening situations, and personal preferences. Pure Direct and Stereo modes are well suited for music-focused listening, Movie mode adds cinematic impact, and Night mode keeps sound balanced and less intrusive during late hours.
Instantly Set the SceneCreate up to four personalized presets using the Scene buttons. Each Scene can be assigned to a specific input along with your preferred sound settings, then recalled instantly from the front panel or remote so your content plays exactly the way you configured it.
